Louis Saha Hails Arsenal’s “Ruthlessness” And Makes Bold Champions League Prediction

Ex-Manchester United striker Louis Saha believes Arsenal possess the “quality” and “ruthlessness” to win the Champions League this season.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Saha said that he was impressed with the Gunners’ performance against Paris Saint-Germain and he feels they have a good enough squad to compete for honours both domestically and in Europe:

“Arsenal have the quality individually to win the Champions League, and they now have a ruthlessness that they’ve been missing over the past few years. They have a strong defence, and to win any Champions League, you need that. Their centre-backs [William Saliba and Gabriel] are one of the best pairs you can find, and the midfield is strong.”

“When you go into those games in the weekend after the Champions League and respond the way Arsenal did, after a brilliant game against Paris Saint-Germain, it’s a matter of having a big team. That will help them go far in the competition.”

Where do Arsenal stand in the Champions League table?

The Gunners sit 13th in the standings after two rounds of fixtures, having drawn 0-0 against Atalanta in the first match of the league phase.

With a home game against Shakhtar Donetsk coming up in a couple of weeks’ time, Mikel Arteta’s side will be hoping to move up the table by securing another three points.

Their five subsequent matches in the competition are against Inter Milan (a), Sporting Lisbon (a), Monaco (h), Dinamo Zagreb (h) and Girona (a).

Who are the favourites to win the Champions League this season?

Manchester City are regarded as the frontrunners to win Europe’s premier competition. Paddy Power have priced the English champions at 7/4.

Holders Real Madrid are second favourites (7/2), with the Gunners are third in the running (7/1). Liverpool are 9/1, with Aston Villa rank outsiders.
