Ex-Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs is backing his former club to come out on top in this Sunday’s North London derby.

Tottenham have started the season in great form, having picked up 4 wins and 1 draw from their first 5 Premier League matches. However, Gibbs still believes the Gunners will be comfortable winners when the two sides meet at the Emirates this weekend:

“To be honest, how I was feeling about Spurs with Harry Kane leaving, I was worried the North London Derby was going to lose its excitement because I just didn’t fancy Spurs. But, I’m actually happy they’ve started well so it’s nicely poised for the weekend but I feel that Arsenal are going to come up trumps.”

“I reckon Tottenham are going to be brought down a few pegs this weekend. At the Emirates with the way it’s rocking at the moment, I’m going to go 3-1 Arsenal.”

Arsenal’s record at home against Spurs suggests Gibbs is right to be confident

The last time that the Gunners lost at the Emirates to their North London rivals in the league was all the way back in 2010 when a goal from Younes Kaboul five minutes before full-time sealed a 3-2 victory for the away side.

Since then, Arsenal have been unbeaten in their last 12 home league matches when facing Tottenham, and they will be hoping to make it 13 on Sunday.

Arteta could be without four players for the derby

Gabriel Martinelli picked up a hamstring injury in the win against Everton last time out so manager Mikel Arteta will have to make a change to the starting eleven he selected at Goodison Park.

Thomas Partey is not expected to be available until after the next international break due to a muscular problem, while Mohamed Elneny and Jurrien Timber are both sidelined with knee injuries.
