Jamie Redknapp has said that Arsenal are the “team to beat” in the Premier League this season under Mikel Arteta.
The Gunners won over the weekend, as they scored twice to beat West Ham at the Emirates, taking them to the top of the table as Liverpool lost 2-1 to Chelsea, which is their second league defeat in a row.
Man City managed to keep their improved form going, as they won 1-0 against Brentford on Sunday, which has put them just three points behind Arsenal. But it does seem that the trio of clubs are the title favourites, but which one has looked the best so far?
Former Premier League midfielder Jamie Redknapp has said that Arsenal are the team to beat this year. He said on Sky Sports: “If you asked me whose shoes I’d want to be in right now, it would have to be Arsenal.
“I look at Arsenal and I see they almost have what Liverpool had last year, Liverpool have to turn it around and get that togetherness back and that belief. You can see when a team is going to win the title.
“Right now for me, they [Arsenal] are the favourites. The squad that they’ve built and the players that they brought in has given them a massive advantage. When I watched them at Newcastle, that was such a big moment for them, and as we look right now, Arsenal do look the team to beat.”
Arsenal gain edge over out of sorts Liverpool
Arsenal’s last two wins against Newcastle and West Ham have propelled the Gunners to the top of the table, and seeing as Liverpool seem to have a real issue on their hands considering their recent form.
Arne Slot’s Reds lost to Crystal Palace last weekend, before losing 1-0 to Galatasaray in the Champions League. They then faced a tough game against Chelsea in the Premier League, and lost that too, which feels like the first really challenging period in Slot’s time as manager.
For Arsenal, they have taken advantage of Liverpool’s poor form as well as they possibly could have done, and mentality-wise, they will be in a much better position than the Reds. It goes back to Redknapp saying you can tell when a team is going to win the league…Arsenal look on target.
