Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer are now tempted to make Arsenal title favourites following recent results.
Both had originally predicted reigning champions Liverpool to finish top of the table for a second successive season.
However, when asked about his thoughts this week, Lineker said he was leaning in favour of Mikel Arteta’s side, at the moment:
“I thought Liverpool at the start of the season, and now, I am swaying towards Arsenal. I think it will be one of them.”
Shearer agreed with Lineker, stating that he may well change his prediction to the Gunners soon:
“I said Liverpool, and there has only been seven or eight games. Ask me after 12 games, and I might change my mind and say Arsenal.”
Who are the bookies’ favourites for the Premier League title?
Arsenal have moved ahead of Liverpool at the bookmakers, with nearly every betting firm pricing them at odds-on.
Following consecutive league defeats, Arne Slot’s team have slipped to second among the runners and riders, with bookies placing odds of around 11/4.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are third favourites, with the Cityzens priced at 4/1.
The fixture list favours Arsenal over the coming weeks
Between now and the November international break, the Gunners will play Fulham (a), Crystal Palace (h), Burnley (a) and Sunderland (a).
While there are three away fixtures in there, you could make a case for saying that the home game against Palace is the toughest of the four.
Liverpool, meanwhile, have fixtures against Manchester United (h), Brentford (a), Aston Villa (h) and Manchester City (a). Prior to that match at the Etihad, the Reds will also take on Real Madrid in the Champions League.
You could argue, therefore, that Arteta’s men could stretch their lead over their title rivals in the next month.
