Gabriel Martinelli has said that playing alongside Martin Odegaard, Viktor Gyokeres can score 30-40 goals a season for Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side face West Ham this weekend, hoping to keep their impressive run of form going and shoot themselves up to the top of the Premier League table.
They come off a 2-0 win against Olympiacos in the Champions League, and will now look to get the better of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Saturday afternoon. During the win against Olympiacos, Martin Odegaard produced an excellent performance, to go with his impressive outing the week before against Newcastle.
Odegaard is in line to start again this weekend against West Ham, and he will hope to feed striker Viktor Gyokeres who hasn’t scored in Arsenal’s last five matches. The Swedish international will be looking to score on Saturday, and prove that he was worth the £64m summer price tag.
Martinelli says Gyokeres will score 30-40 goals for Arsenal
After the Gunners’ win against Olympiacos on Wednesday night, winger Gabriel Martinelli heaped praise on Odegaard, and his creative abilities, he also said that with Odegaard’s help, Gyokeres will be able to score well over 30 goals in a season for Arsenal.
Martinelli was quoted by the Daily Star: “It’s really good to play with Martin Odegaard there because he’s always trying to find you, when we make the movement. And for Victor as well, his qualities as well, as he likes to go in behind and attack the opposition’s box.
“I think him playing with Martin as well is going to be good for him. We are going to try to give him the ball as much as possible to make him score, I don’t know, 30 or 40 goals a season.”
Last year, Gyokeres managed to score an incredible 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting CP, and the Gunners hope that he will be the final piece of the puzzle to help them win a Premier League title this season under Arteta.
