“Let’s Just Avoid Giving Fouls Away”: Brentford Boss Teases Arsenal Game Plan As He Hails “Fantastic” Declan Rice

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has said that his side need to “avoid giving fouls away” after Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Real Madrid on Tuesday.

The Gunners beat Real Madrid in the opening leg of their Champions League quarter-final, to give themselves a massive advantage heading into the second leg next week.

Before that, Arsenal need to turn their attention to the Premier League as they welcome Brentford to the Emirates on Saturday night in what could be a tough matchup with Thomas Frank’s side.

Arsenal’s title hopes are all but over as they are 11 points behind Liverpool, but they could close the gap to eight points with a win against the Bees on Saturday.

Thomas Frank full of praise for Arsenal

Ahead of the game, Frank was full of praise for Arsenal after their win against Madrid, especially midfielder Declan Rice after his two stunning free kicks.

He said in his pre-match press conference: “It was an unbelievably impressive performance and Arsenal truly deserved the win. They were two fantastic free-kicks from Declan Rice. The first one was clever, bending it around the wall; the second one was an absolute screamer, top corner, wow.

“For the first one, I hope our wall would be a bit different, so he can’t get around that side. That would be my expectation. But let’s just avoid giving fouls away!

“No matter who they put on the pitch, they will have a strong team. I don’t know what team they’ll put out, but I know it’ll be a difficult game. Arteta is a great manager, they’ve got a lot of details and principles they’ve put into the team, and I like what they do.”

Arsenal hope that they can close the gap to Liverpool and keep their impressive form going before they face Real Madrid again next week on Wednesday.
