Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith thinks Arsenal will be top of the table by the end of November.
The Gunners could actually take 1st place on Saturday, at least briefly, if they beat West Ham, but speaking about how things will pan out over the next couple of months, Smith told BestBettingSites.co.uk:
“I could see Arsenal top by the end of November. There’s problems at Liverpool that Slot’s got to look at and try and fix. I don’t know if he’s got a quick fix there, because at the back, they look shaky with Konate, not too many options.”
“Arsenal winning at Newcastle would have done them the world of good, and I can see them now going on a good run. So every chance they might just overtake Liverpool.”
Who do Arsenal play in the next five games?
As already mentioned, Mikel Arteta’s side host West Ham at the Emirates on Saturday afternoon in their last game before the international break.
On their return to club action, the Gunners face Fulham before taking on Crystal Palace at the Emirates. At the beginning of November, they will travel to Burnley before hosting Sunderland. Read our article here as we predict how many points they could take from those 5 fixtures.
Liverpool have started to wobble
The Reds may have begun the season with 5 league wins in a row, but the defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend and the subsequent loss to Galatasaray in the Champions League have raised doubts about the Premier League champions.
With the matches they have coming up, Arsenal have the perfect opportunity to take advantage and get themselves ahead of their title rivals in the table before Christmas. It could well be a defining period of the season.
