Arsenal have been warned about rivals Man City in the Premier League title race by former manager Alan Pardew.
The Gunners managed to just beat bottom-of-the-league Wolves on Saturday afternoon, as they scored a late winner to make it 2-1 at the Emirates. Mikel Arteta will be delighted that his side are still at the top of the table.
However, Arsenal have just a two point lead over rivals Man City, who beat Crystal Palace 3-0 over the weekend, and despite the Gunners remaining as favourites for the title, many believe City could overtake them in the coming weeks.
Former Premier League manager Alan Pardew has warned the Gunners about the threat that City pose, but did say Arsenal have been performing well. He said on talkSPORT: “They [Man City] are beginning to go ‘we’re coming’, and we know what happens in the second half [of the season] to Pep’s teams usually.
“They’ve only got to be two points better than Arsenal for the rest of the season, it’s possible. They’re [Arsenal] going along nicely though. We’re almost half way, and I always think that’s a bit of an acid test in the division.”
Arsenal remain as Premier League favourites
Despite the very clear and obvious threat from a Man City side who have seen the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden and more really kick into form in recent weeks.
According to Oddschecker, the Gunners still have the backing of the bookmakers, and remain the fairly heavy favourites to win the league title.
Arsenal are backed at odds of 4/5 to win the league, which gives them a 55.6% chance to beat Manchester City and win their first Premier League since the 2003/04 season.
Man City are backed at 37/20, giving them a 35.1% chance to win the league, and Aston Villa are the third favourites at odds of 33/1 (2.9%)
