1) Arsenal’s defence has gone AWOL

The Gunners have now conceded 4 goals in their last 2 games. Considering that, only a couple of weeks ago, pundits were lauding how solid Mikel Arterta’s side have been at the back, it’s a surprise to see them in this situation.

One of the main culprits against both Bayern and Villa was Gabriel. The Brazilian has been outstanding since the turn of the year but he seems to have lost his way in recent matches.

There was one bizarre moment against Villa when he kicked the ball into Oleksandr Zinchenko’s back, presenting a chance for Ollie Watkins who hit the post.

Gabriel was also at fault for Villa’s opener. Rather than being decisive and intercepting the ball, he allowed it to run across goal, leaving Leon Bailey with the chance to score.
