Arsenal need to make a swoop for Aubameyang in the summer window

Arsenal made big strides this week by finally securing the future of Arsene Wenger, with the club reportedly set to announce a fresh two-year deal for the long-serving Frenchman today after a crunch meeting with the board yesterday.

Whilst many fans have made their disappointment clear on social media following the news, it’s clear that Arsenal need stability ahead of a crucial summer transfer window where the Gunners will be battling the likes of both Manchester clubs and Chelsea for the services of top-class additions.

With Manchester City already making early moves in the market and Manchester United linked to huge names like Antoine Griezmann, Arsenal are under pressure to secure the necessary signings they need to remain competitive next season.

Fortunately for the Gunners, there is plenty of top-class names available on the transfer market this summer and the reports suggest Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is keen to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 27-year-old Gabonese ace has excelled in Germany, scoring a sensational 85 goals in 128 Bundesliga appearances for the German side- but he’s now seeking a fresh challenge, which Arsenal can provide.

Interest in Aubameyang’s services are high, with the likes of AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain touted with interest in the African ace, but the financial lure of the Premier League could give Arsenal a huge advantage in the chase for his signature.

Arsenal are desperately seeking a top-class striking addition this summer to improve on their attacking lines, especially with the future of Alexis Sanchez still hanging under scrutiny, and Arsenal need to make a huge statement of intent this summer regardless of whether Wenger stays or leaves.

Should Alexis leave, then the need for a superstar signing will increase significantly and Aubameyang is the sort of player that would appease the supporters that will be left distraught by a potential exit for their Chilean Player of the Year.

Arsenal have lacked a top-class striker since the days where Robin Van Persie was in his prime and the failure to replace the Dutchman has led to a wealth of issues for the Gunners, with only Alexis’ rise to prominence in a central role this season saving some grace for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Aubameyang would certainly cost a pretty penny, likely costing more than Arsenal’s current record signing Mesut Ozil, but the Gunners need to pay whatever necessary to improve their side this summer- especially with their Premier League rivals likely to shatter records across the board.

Arsene Wenger will be under intense pressure to improve his ranks this summer following his new deal and he still sits on a slippery slope, which means he cannot afford to rest upon his laurels during this close season.
