Arsenal Named As One Of Three Teams Pursuing German Playmaker

Arsenal are one of three clubs who have taken a “close interest” in Paris Saint-Germain attacking midfielder Julian Draxler’s situation, according to Footmercato.net.

The Gunners, another Premier League club and Hertha Berlin are the teams who are competing to sign the 26-year-old, who will be put up for sale by PSG this summer.

Draxler is reportedly keen to stay with the French club, but with the player’s contract expiring next year, sporting director Leonardo is said to be keen to offload the German international.

Hertha Berlin are believed to be the most advanced in negotiations, with Draxler’s agency Rogon having reached out to the Bundesliga club to ascertain whether a transfer can be thrashed out.

Footmercato go as far as to say that Hertha have already tabled a contract offer to the midfielder, although it remains to be seen whether the player will accept the deal.

Draxler is said to be earning €7.2m (£6.27m) a year at PSG, which works out at around £120,000 a week. Whether Arsenal would be prepared to match his wage demands, we shall have to wait and see.
