Arsenal Named As One Of Four Clubs Vying To Sign 43M Rated Belgian Ace Who Lit Up The Euros

Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all tracking Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, according to the Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com).

The 19-year-old was extremely impressive despite Belgium losing 2-1 to Italy in their European Championship quarter-final tie on Friday night.

Doku only moved to Rennes from Anderlecht for €25m (£21.5m) last summer but Gazzetta claim that his valuation has now pretty much doubled in the space of a year.

Whether the Gunners would spend €50m (£43m) on the Belgian teenager, it does seem unlikely, considering they do have priorities in other areas of the pitch.

With Martin Odegaard having confirmed on Instagram last night that he is staying at Real Madrid, the search for a new number 10 will take on greater urgency, and if they pursue Leicester’s James Maddison, it could cost them in excess of £60m.

Were that to be the case, you can’t see Arsenal shelling out £40m plus on three different players this summer, if you also assume that they get a deal over the line for Brighton’s Ben White.
