Arsenal have been scouting Middlesbrough defender Nathan Wood, according to the Sun. The teenager is interesting the Gunners as well as Tottenham, Everton and Burnley.

It is believed that the Clarets are the team that are in pole position to sign the 17-year-old, with the Lancashire side reportedly lining up a £9m bid in the January transfer window.

Wood has featured once for Boro so far this campaign, playing the full 90 minutes in the club’s penalty shootout defeat to Crewe Alexandra in the first round of the Carabao Cup last month.

The centre-back has only made four senior appearances in total, having made his debut in the League Cup last season, coming on as a substitute in the win against Notts County.

Wood has yet to make his league debut despite having got his first appearance over a year ago, but his potential has attracted the Gunners and a number of other clubs.
