Arsenal Named Among The PL Clubs ‘Pressing’ To Sign 26M Rated Spanish Star Who Has Just Rejected New Contract

Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle are “pressing” to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz after the player rejected a contract extension, according to the Corriere Dello Sport.

The Italian publication claims that the Spaniard’s decision to turn down the latest proposal from Napoli will accelerate the Serie A club’s plans to offload him this summer.

Ruiz has one year left on his current deal, and president Aurelio De Laurentiis is not willing to let him leave on a free transfer at the end of next season, so he is looking to sell now for around €30m (£26m).

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners will step up their pursuit in the 26-year-old. They are on the verge of snapping up Fabio Vieira from Porto and, while signing another midfielder is not out of the question, it could depend on outgoings.

With the club currently focused on recruiting the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha, the Ruiz situation could be something that is revisited later in the transfer window.
