Arsenal Named Among Five Premier League Teams Pursuing 25M Rated Marseille Star

Arsenal remain interested in signing Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, according to the Daily Mail. The Gunners looked at the Frenchman earlier this summer but they were put off by the player’s £25m asking price.

However, it is thought that Mikel Arteta’s side, along with West Ham, Burnley, Wolves and Fulham are all still keeping tabs on the 26-year-old who could well be sold for a lower amount later on in the transfer window. Marseille are looking to balance the books as they aim to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and Sanson has been consistently linked with a departure from the Stade Velodrome over the past year. Whether the midfielder would fit the profile that Arteta is looking for, it is up for debate. He is more of a playmaker rather than an enforcer, and it is thought that the Gunners have been pursuing players like Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey in order to add steel in the middle of the park.

The interest in Sanson may well be related to Dani Ceballos. Were the Spaniard not to return to the Emirates, Arsenal may consider the Marseille player as a potential alternative.
