Arsenal Must Meet Khedira’s Wage Demands

The 27-year-old Sami Khedira is no longer wanted at the Bernabeu and will be sold if a club comes in with the right offer. The midfielder was on the scoresheet when his country, Germany, mauled Brazil 7-1 in the World Cup semi-finals to set up a match against Argentina in the final.

The Spanish giants want £24 million to part ways with the German and Arsenal are reportedly willing to stump up that amount. However, Khedira is not willing to take a salary cut on his £8 million a year wages, which translates into more than £150,000 a week.

His international colleague Mesut Ozil is the highest paid player earning £140,000 a week at Arsenal but the defensive enforcer will want to be the new highest paid player at the Emirates, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal are also eyeing a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Lars Bender and Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin, while they have announced a deal for Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez and adding Khedira would certainly be another top-drawer signing in the same vein as Ozil and Sanchez and would again demonstrate that Wenger is seriously ramping up for an assault on the big trophies in the season ahead.
