Arsenal May Not Need Any Winter Transfer Signings

According to the Daily Mail, Podolski will be Arsenal’s second main man in front of goal after Walcott was ruled out for the next 5 months or so. The German who has just returned from a 3 month absence period caused by hamstring problems looks to have impressed Wenger by coming off the bench to score and provide Walcott with an assist against West Ham a few weeks back.

His assistance will surely be needed considering the fact that the Gunners have a hard time finding proper transfer targets that can actually move to North London before the end of January. Wenger seems patient with Podolski who is not yet running at full throttle.

The Frenchman might even postpone transferring a new striker until the end of the season if you consider his recent statements regarding the 28 year old forward.

Arsenal’s boss insisted Podolski is one of the best players in front of goal and that it is hard to find someone who is as good as the German, given he is 100% fit to perform. It is probably a matter of weeks until he will be able to fill in for Walcott or Giroud, depending on the situation.

With the FA Cup in progress the Gunners have to find a way to rest players like Giroud, Ozil or Ramsey every once in a while. February will be a real nightmare for Wenger who has to face Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich in just 10 days’ worth of time. Add to that a possible FA Cup fixture and you get a tough situation only someone like the Frenchman could solve given the squad issues Arsenal currently have.
