Arsenal May Have Found Proper Competition For Giroud In Campbell

The Gunners who have been searching for a striker ever since Van Persie left, may have had the answer in their own backyard the whole time. Joel Campbell who is set to return to the Emirates after being sent on loan on several occasions, is expected to become Wenger’s number two guy. Since moving to Arsenal back in 2011, Campbell has made no appearances for the club. He spent time playing for Lorient, Real Betis and Olympiacos where he managed to score 8 times in 32 games. According to Metro, the 22 year old will not be leaving this season as Wenger seems to like the young Costa Rican and will give him a chance to impress.

Campbell who impressed only while in Brazil, is still looking more promising than Bendtner and even Sanogo who unlike the Danish international, is still with the club. It will be great to see a bit more enthusiasm on the pitch from a back-up striker considering how Campbell repeatedly insisted that it has been his childhood dream to play in the red and white shirt. Hopefully he will continue his excellent performances and become a better player, fit to provide Giroud with proper competition.
