Arsenal Make ‘Informal’ Enquiry For Controversial 24 Cap International Striker

Arsenal have made “informal” contact with former Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to Goal Brasil.

The website says that “no official proposal” was made by the Gunners but they have been in contact “in recent days” to find out about his situation.

Costa is available on a free transfer after leaving Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro last week, and the Spaniard, who has been capped 24 times by his country, is now looking for a new club.

The 33-year-old has also attracted interest from Corinthians, whilst Cadiz have been in touch as well, although Goal claim that the forward is not too keen on making the switch to the La Liga side.

Why Arsenal have decided to contact Costa, it is not known. It may simply be a precaution if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is allowed to leave and they cannot find a suitable long-term replacement.

Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic is said to be the club’s number one target, but the Serbian international is reportedly not interested in a move to the Emirates.
