Arsenal Make First Squad Changes

The biggest news regarding Arsenal’s squad is the fact that Abou Diaby will finally be leaving the Emirates at the end of the month. The 29 year old who has spent almost a decade registered as a Gunner, will be parting ways with the Londoners at the end of June when his contract will expire. Even though there were rumors he will be given the chance to sign a different type of deal which would allow him to get paid as he plays, Metro reported there will be no such agreement between the two sides. Once seen as the next Patrick Vierira, Abou Diaby is probably one of the most fragile and unlucky players in the Premier League’s history. Wenger should be commended for finding a way to keep the midfielder for so long even though he has made a mind-blowing 124 appearances only in 9 years. With 40 injuries keeping him off the pitch for a total of 1256 days, Diaby is very fortunate to have been given the trust and support Wenger gave him over the past 5-6 years.

After spending almost 3 ½ years out of the 9 years of contract recovering from injury, Diaby will have a very hard time finding a team to sign with. Even though he is 29, there are little to no options for the Frenchman who may be forced to end his career earlier than he would have liked. Joining him in trying to find a new team is 22 year old Ryo Miyaich who in 4 years playing for Arsenal, was featured in only 7 games.

We wish them both well in their future careers and are sorry they could not realise their dreams and potential with the Gunners.
