Arsenal Make Breakthrough With £45m Bid

Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a £45m deal with Monaco for youngster Thomas Lemar.

Monaco’s super season last term saw them winning the Ligue 1 title and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, beating the likes of Manchester City on the way. But their success has brought a lot of attention to the team, and pretty much every Monaco player is a wanted man. With Mbappe rumoured to be on his way out in a world record deal, the likes of Mendy, Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva have already made their moves away. Now it seems Lemar is set to follow suit.

The winger has been targeted by a host of top European clubs after his impressive displays last season. Managing 14 goals and 14 assists for Monaco, there is no wonder why Arsenal have already seen two bids for the Frenchman rejected this summer. Many reports have stated that the Ligue 1 side want £80m for their man, but this is an unrealistic number – and it is thought that Arsenal have made a breakthrough with a latest bid.

Arsenal initially offered £30m for the winger, followed by a second bid of £35m – but it is believed that the North London sides’ third bid of £45m will be enough to tempt Monaco to sell. Reports circling this morning have hinted that Lemar wants to join the Gunners, and has already agreed terms with the club, though this is not confirmed by either party.

Thomas Lemar looks like an exciting player to say the least, and whether or not Sanchez decides to leave the Emirates this summer, the Frenchman’s arrival would certainly soften the blow if he did.
