Arsenal Make £30m Opening Offer For Brazilian Midfield General As They Look To Beat Off Chelsea

Arsenal have made an opening €35m (£30m) offer for Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to TodoFichajes.com.

The Brazilian Under 23 international has also been a target for Chelsea, Benfica and Atletico Madrid but the Gunners appear the keenest to snap up the 22-year-old with an early bid in the January transfer window.

Head coach Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the club are looking to sign a couple of players this month, and it seems Guimaraes may well be one of his key targets.

With Granit Xhaka looking to leave for Hertha Berlin, it looks as though the London club have made signing another holding midfielder a priority.

Guimaraes made 35 appearances for Athletico Paranaense last season, scoring four goals and contributing three assists. In recent days, he has spoken out about his interest in moving to Europe and it does seem that Arsenal are now the frontrunners to secure his signature.
