Arsenal Make £3 Million Offer For Ospina As Szczesny Back-Up

The Gunners had been linked with a host of goalkeepers following the departure of second-choice Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea City last month. After considering moves for the likes of David Marshall of Cardiff, Reading’s Alex McCarthy, Costa Rica’s Keylor Navas amongst others, Wenger has entered into formal negotiations with David Ospina’s advisers.

The 25-year-old plays his club football in France with Nice and has just 12 months remaining on his current deal before it expires. He was very impressive in Costa Rica’s run to the quarter-finals of the World Cup where they were eliminated on penalties by the Netherlands.

Wenger will be hoping to land the goalkeeper for just £3 million by the end of the week, according to the Mirror. He has already discussed personal terms with Ospina’s agent and is quietly confident of tying up a deal.

Do you think Ospina would be a good back-up option to Wojciech Szczesny and offer him better competition than Fabianski did?
