Arsenal Looking To Sign Two Right Backs To Compete For Sagna’s Position

The Spanish defender, Javi Manquillo might be offered a loan deal just as Mathieu Debuchy is set on joining the Gunners sometime next week. With that in mind, Wenger had to find a decent competitor for the Frenchman who is not going to have it easy if Manquillo accepts the terms of the loan deal. According to the Daily Mail, Manquillo is to move to North London for a year before being offered a permanent contract. The 20 year old who made his first 6 appearances for Atletico during last season, could be brought in to replace Jenkinson who is on his way to Newcastle.

Arsenal’s only remaining right-back who turned 22 back in February, has spent two years on loan and managed just 37 appearances for Arsenal who do not seem keen on keeping him around anymore. The English international made it through the first series of cuts but is now seemingly looking for a new team. Debuchy who gave away the fact that he will be moving to Emirates Stadium, is probably going to become Wenger’s choice for Arsenal’s starting line-up. With rumors at one time pointing towards a possible move for Toulouse’s Serge Aurier as well, Jenkinson might become a third or even 4th option for the Gunners.

Hopefully some moves will be made quickly as the Premier League is only a few weeks away. Arsenal will need to bring in several other players including a new goalkeeper and at least one or two defenders this summer without including Debuchy.
