This year’s Giroud is definitely an improved version of what we saw last season but it is very unlikely that he will be able to handle being Arsenal’s sole striker. Sure, Walcott will return soon and he will be able to raise the competition for a spot in the first eleven once more but still, Wenger needs a fresh striker. A lot of people could argue that Welbeck will return after injury and that he can be a solution. Honestly it`s hard to believe he will manage to catch up after being out of touch since September. He is expected to return mid-January but to be brutally honest, this is a missed season for the Englishman. A knee operation and 4 months of recovery plus the other 3 of injury from the end of last season will make his life extremely complicated. Yes, he is only 24 which means he has the time and resources to become one of Arsenal’s main men but not this season.
