Arsenal will consider triggering Hoffenheim midfielder Kerem Demirbay’s buyout clause, according to reports in the German media.
The German international is said to be available for €25m (£22m) which is well within the Gunners’ summer transfer budget, and the London club are believed to have already made contact about the player.
Demirbay generally plays as a number 10, but he can play deeper, which would make him a like-for-like replacement for Aaron Ramsey.
The Welshman may have played his last game for Arsenal after injuring his hamstring in the 1-0 win against Napoli on Thursday night.
With Ramsey heading to Juventus in the summer, Demirbay could take his place in the squad, but the 25-year-old’s record doesn’t suggest he will provide as many goals or assists.
This campaign, the German has netted four times, and laid on eights assists, a similar record to Ramsey’s, but he has managed just 12 goals in total during his three years at Hoffenheim.
