Arsenal Look To Argentinian Wonderkid As Potential Ramsey Replacement

Arsenal have joined Inter Milan in the battle for River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios, according to reports in Argentina.

The 20-year-old has recently broken into the first team at club level and has also made his debut for the Argentinian national team back in September.

Palacios had previously been linked with Real Madrid but when the midfielder’s agent, Renato Corsi, was asked about a potential move to Spain, he replied by saying that Inter were the only team looking at him:

“Recently Francescoli called to ask if I had spoken to Real Madrid about a potential deal, but nobody contacted me from Real.”

“However, I received a call from Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti to let me know they were watching him and yes we remain in contact.”

Since then, it appears Arsenal have emerged as rivals to sign the player. It is believed the Gunners are considering the Argentinian international as a potential replacement for Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman made an emotional farewell at the Emirates last week with the 28-year-old poised to make a summer switch to Juventus.

Palacios would be a surprise choice considering he has only made 49 appearances for River Plate. This season, he has scored one goal and provided five assists in 18 games.
