Arsenal are interested in a move for Real Madrid wonderkid Arda Guler – but they are not alone, as Liverpool are also believed to be interested in the Turkish international’s services.
This is according to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes [via TEAMtalk].
Guler will not come cheap – not only is he at one of the biggest clubs in the world, he is also under contract at Los Blancos until the summer of 2029. Therefore, Madrid are under no impetus to sell the 19 year old any time soon.
This season, however, Guler has failed to impress audiences while playing for Madrid. He has made 11 appearances in all competitions for them, but has yet to score a goal or register an assist. As such, Carlo Ancelotti may be more willing to part ways with him than it might initially seem.
As things stand, Madrid will be willing to let Guler go for a fee in the region of £67 million. Depending on how his season progresses, this figure may increase or decrease – only time will tell.
What would Arda Guler offer at Arsenal?
A fantastic goal scorer and progressive dribbler, Guler is arguably tailor made for the Premier League with his forward thinking and excellent movement off the ball.
His talents were on full display at Euro 2024, where he was Turkey’ star man at the tournament. He scored a single goal and notched up two assists at the tournament – his goal was also nominated for goal of the competition.
He is also an adaptable attacking player – his talents make him most suited to occupying the number ten role, but he is more than capable of playing as a central midfielder and on the right wing.
While he is far from the prime of his career, Guler has a potentially glittering career ahead of him – the only question is where he chooses to spend it.
