Arsenal are keen on signing Flamengo forward Reinier Jesus, according to the Sun. The 17-year-old has a release clause of £60m, which the Gunners may have to trigger in order to sign the teenager.
Reinier has reportedly become a target because of concerns over captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future. The 30-year-old has stalled on signing a new contract despite his current deal expiring in just over 18 months time.
That has led to Arsenal’s pursuit of Reinier becoming more of a priority. The Brazilian does, however, have a number of potential suitors in Europe.
Manchester City have been monitoring Reinier’s progress for a long time, while the likes of Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Juventus and Everton have also been keeping tabs on the player.
The wonderkid has been playing in an attacking midfield role for Flamengo, rather than as a striker this season. Since making his senior debut back in August, he has made 13 appearances, scoring four goals and contributing two assists.
