Arsenal Legend Unhappy With Striking Depth

The Gunners are the most talked about team of the season, as far as the Premier League goes. Their unexpected, almost perfect domestic run has got fans hoping this is finally the year their trophy drought ends. Many of Arsenal’s former glories look confident that Wenger finally realized you cannot aim to high unless you make the proper investments. Ozil was the most expensive player to ever get signed by the Emirates team, and what an impact he has made. He managed to quickly become part of the team and immediately made his mark on the way the Gunners perform.

Even so, most people say a single transfer is not enough to sustain a pace that could allow Arsenal to win the Premier League. According to Metro, former Gunner, Frank McLintock expressed his disappointment with the fact that Wenger did not bring in more players of Ozil’s quality.

Frank McLintock, who was Arsenal’s captain in 1967, said his former club has an unbalanced starting eleven and that players like Giroud don’t get the necessary support to express themselves at their full potential. His statement seemed to be directed towards Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski who have not had the best of seasons up until now, mainly because they have not played in months due to injury!

McLintock insisted on the fact that the Gunners need to make some major investments during the winter transfer period not only because of the current lot’s lack of star players but also because of their precarious health state. It can be a real challenge to remember the last time Wenger had all his players fit and able to perform at full potential. Last year he had problems with all of his defenders. This year it looks like it’s the offensive department’s turn. It seems as though all of Arsenal’s attacking players have had to sit out at least a couple of matches because of injury.
