Arsenal Keep Options Open In Case Khedira Move Falls

Wenger is making sure Arsenal have a complete squad with weeks before the start of the Premier League. The Frenchman, who just returned from Brazil, is keen on signing Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira who will have to give his approval after the two clubs agreed on the transfer fee. Just in case things don’t go down as planned, Wenger will be pushing for Lars Bender who is next on the transfer list. According to Metro, 25 year old German international Lars Bender represents a cheaper alternative to Khedira who is valued at about £22million.

Despite being considered more expensive, Khedira is a lot more experienced than his younger fellow compatriot. He has won a lot of important trophies most of which were won with Real Madrid during the past 4 years.

Bender is looking for a chance in scenery and has been linked to Arsenal on several occasions. The 25 year old has been playing for Leverkusen for the past 5 years and it is very hard to believe he will turn down an offer from Arsenal. Bender is more versatile than Khedira though which could represent an advantage for the German international. He can play as a right back as well as a defensive midfielder which are two of the spots Wenger is desperately looking to fill especially after letting 11 players leave the Emirates.
