Arsenal are one of five clubs interested in signing Juventus midfielder Emre Can, according to reports in Germany. Borussia Dortmund were thought to be closing in on a deal for the 26-year-old but the Gunners, Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich are also involved in the race to sign the German.

The former Liverpool player has become unsettled in Italy after being afforded very little game time by manager Maurizio Sarri. He has made just eight appearances in all competitions this season.

Dortmund are reportedly still the frontrunners for Can, with the Bundesliga side reportedly having agreed a fee in the region of €30m (£25m) for the German international.

It would be a surprise if the Gunners are genuinely interested in the player considering head coach Mikel Arteta already has a number of options in the middle of the park.

The likes of Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torrreira, Matteo Guendouizi and Dani Ceballos are all available, although the latter has been linked with a return to Spain in recent days.
