Arsenal Join Fight For Canadian Ace With 19 Goals And 10 Assists This Season

Arsenal are one of a number of teams taking a keen interest in Gent attacking midfielder Jonathan David, according to Jeunes Footeux.

The French website reports that the Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Canadian international, along with Everton, Leicester, Napoli, Roma, Lyon and RB Leipzig after a stellar season in the Belgian League.

Although ostensibly a midfielder, David has hit a rich vein of form in front of goal, having bagged himself 19 goals (as well as 10 assists) in 35 appearances for Gent this campaign.

In his last game, the 20-year-old was given his opportunity to play as the main striker, and he duly delivered by scoring a brace in a 3-2 victory over FC Eupen last Friday.

David is even more prolific at international level, having scored an impressive 11 goals in just 12 caps for Canada since making his debut in September 2018. There is likely to be fierce competition for the player when the summer transfer window opens.
