Arsenal have entered the race for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to the Sun. The newspaper says that the Gunners are scouting a player who they describe as “one of the hottest talents in Europe” but they will face competition for his signature.

Liverpool and Manchester City are also said to be keen on the 21-year-old, while Real Madrid and Juventus are believed to be keeping tabs on the Frenchman as well.

City’s interest is reportedly dependent on the club overturning their ban from European competitions, while Liverpool have already had initial talks with Lyon about the midfielder.

The biggest obstacle for Arsenal would be the price with Aouar currently valued at around £65m, but Lyon are said to be open to selling their best players this summer in order to balance the books.

Even then, the Gunners will likely have to sell before they make a bid for the France Under 21 international, with the club’s transfer budget likely to be limited.
