The 27-year-old Pablo Armero played a key role for Colombia in their World Cup campaign which ended when hosts Brazil beat them 2-1 in the quarter-finals. The defender also has a goal in the World Cup to his name when he netted Colombia’s first goal in their 3-0 win against Greece last month.

A report in Metro suggests that Arsenal are interested in recruiting Armero this summer. The full-back spent the second half of last season on loan in the Premier League with West Ham and is ‘desperate’ to return to England in the summer.

The future of Nacho Monreal is uncertain and Wenger is interested in recruiting a new left-back in the summer. However, even Southampton have registered an interest in the former Napoli defender.

Armero was co-owned by Napoli and Udinese but the latter bought him outright last month so it will be them who Wenger has to do a deal with if he wants to sign the Colombian.
