Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has picked up a knee problem during the pre-season tour of the Far East.
The Italian international walked straight down the tunnel after being substituted early in the second half of the 3-2 friendly win against Newcastle at the weekend.
Speaking after the match, manager Mikel Arteta said that Calafiori had felt something and was taken off as a precaution:
“He said that he felt a little tweak, so I don’t know how big it is, but hopefully not.”
Calafiori was pictured walking normally with a plaster on his knee after the match so it doesn’t appear to be a serious problem.
Expected Return Date – Start of the Season
Gabriel
The Brazilian has fully recovered from the hamstring injury he sustained back in April and he has travelled out with the rest of the first-team squad.
However, speaking after the 1-0 win over AC Milan last week, Arteta confirmed that Gabriel sat out the game after picking up a “little niggle” in training.
It appears the club’s medical staff are taking every precaution as he did not feature versus Newcastle either.
