Arsenal Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Riccardo Calafiori And Five More

Riccardo Calafiori is likely to return for Arsenal’s game against Aston Villa on Saturday night at the Emirates.

The Italian defender picked up a knock to his knee earlier in January, keeping him out of the Gunners’ last three matches. However, he looks set to return this weekend against Villa.

Arsenal welcome Villa to the Emirates, as they look to close the gap to league leaders Liverpool to just one point this weekend. Mikel Arteta will be pleased that his defender can return, although he may decide to play youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly in his place due to the 18-year-old’s impressive performances recently.

Arteta said before Arsenal’s 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday: “His thing is not much, but again, we need another day or two. We’ve been playing every three days, and 24 hours becomes really important because they are not long-term injuries.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Japan international Tomiyasu is the closest to a permanent return that he has been since suffering his long-term knee injury over the summer with his national team.

He has been in training since the start of January, but the Gunners want to make sure that he’s back to full fitness for when he makes a return.

There is a chance that he could make the squad on Saturday, but it looks more likely for Tomiyasu to return against Wolves next weekend.
