“Before The Season Finishes” – David Ornstein Suggests Arsenal Could Be Handed Shock Injury Boost

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz could return to fitness “before the season finishes”, according to journalist David Ornstein.

The German international was originally ruled out for the rest of the campaign after undergoing surgery on a serious hamstring injury, but asked about Havertz as part of a Q&A on The Athletic, Ornstein said:

“It looks and sounds like his recovery is going well, so perhaps they’ll try to reintegrate him before the season finishes if it is safe to do so and there is something to play for. But let’s see – a lot of ‘ifs’ in that!”

Havertz has been sharing videos of his rehabilitation on social media. He seems to be making great progress in the gym, but he has yet to return to training on the grass.

When could the Arsenal star return to action?

There is no certainty that the 25-year-old will be available again before the campaign comes to a close and, as Ornstein points out, there is no point in risking his fitness.

With the Gunners’ Premier League title hopes all but over, rushing him back for the run-in is not required. However, it would be beneficial if he can return to the matchday squad and get some minutes off the bench, especially if the team make it all the way to the Champions League final, which takes place at the end of next month.

Havertz is not the only injured forward who is on the mend

While there have been headlines about Havertz’s potential return, it should be mentioned that Gabriel Jesus is also working hard as he looks to make a speedy recovery from an ACL injury.

The Brazilian underwent surgery back in January and he has been working on his fitness since then. His last update a month ago suggested that he was making some big strides in rehabilitation.

Due to the severity of his injury, though, Jesus is not expected to make his comeback until the start of next season.
