Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is currently being assessed due to suffering a hamstring injury last week.
The Brazilian had to be taken off during Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
He was replaced by Ethan Nwaneri in the 37th minute when the Gunners were 1-0 down after a Jacob Murphy opener. They then conceded a second in the 52nd minute of the game when Anthony Gordon put the tie on ice, making it 4-0 on aggregate.
It now means that Martinelli is a doubt for Arsenal’s next game which comes against Leicester City on Saturday 15 February, meaning that Mikel Arteta may have to start Nwaneri in place of him.
The Arsenal boss said: “He [Martinelli] felt something, I think it was his hamstring, and he wasn’t comfortable to continue, so we have to have an MRI scan tomorrow to see the extent of the injury.”
