Arsenal Ace Could Start For His Country Despite Warnings About Injury That Has Kept Him Out Since October

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is expected to start for Brazil when they face Argentina on Tuesday night, according to Globo Esporte.

The Brazilian news outlet claim that the 26-year-old could play after recovering from a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for nearly a month.

Jesus has not made an appearance since the 2-1 win over Sevilla in October, and the Gunners were hoping that the forward would remain in London during the international break to continue his recovery.

However, the forward accepted his call-up from Brazil interim head coach Fernando Diniz and he has been pictured back in full training prior to the Argentina clash.

Brazil’s poor start to World Cup qualifying is forcing them to take a risk on Jesus

With Richarlison, Neymar and Vinicius Jnr all sidelined with injuries, the five-time World Cup winners are lacking options upfront.

Gabriel Martinelli started through the middle against Colombia last time out and, despite scoring in the game, Brazil still lost the match 2-1. It is now back-to-back defeats following a previous loss to Uruguay, so they are expected to call upon Jesus to help them out.

Three Arsenal players could play against Argentina

After Vinicius Jnr limped off against Colombia, it is believed Martinelli will start wide on the left, with Jesus through the middle. Gabriel Magalhaes is also set to keep his place in the middle of defence.

With the game being played early on Wednesday morning UK Time, it means that the three players won’t have a great deal of time to recover before the Gunners’ next fixture.

Mikel Arteta’s side play on Saturday evening against Brentford and you can almost guarantee that Jesus won’t play in that match, especially if he plays the full 90 minutes for Brazil.
