Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is set to be out for an extended period of time after suffering a hamstring injury.
Saka has been the best Arsenal player this season according to ratings, however, Mikel Arteta has suffered a blow, losing his star winger.
The England international has scored five goals and 10 assists so far this season, however, he suffered an injury during the Gunners’ 5-1 win against Crystal Palace.
It means that he will miss several games which could damage the Gunners’ title hopes over rivals Liverpool who are nine points ahead.
Arteta said: “He had a procedure. Everything went well. But unfortunately, he will be out for many, many weeks. I think it will be more than two months. I don’t know exactly how much longer.”
If he was to miss two months, Bukayo Saka would miss out on games against Tottenham, Manchester City and Manchester United to name a few.
Expected return date – Unknown
Raheem Sterling
Chelsea loanee Sterling suffered a knee injury in training and is now recovering with a view to seeing an extended period of time on the side-lines.
Sterling has only made six appearances for the Gunners this season, and has struggled to break into the first team. However, he will now have to wait for his next chance. The Gunners’ next game against Brentford will likely come too soon.
Arteta said: “The news with Raz, I think it’s better. We have to see this week how he evolves. So, hopefully, that’s good because we need him.”
If he does return from injury soon, it would be a big help for Arteta after losing Bukayo Saka.
Expected return date – Saturday 4 January vs Brighton
