Updates On Rice, Saka And 5 More: Arsenal Latest Injury News And Expected Return Dates

Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice is expected to be fit to play against Brentford at the weekend after suffering a knock against Real Madrid.

Rice had a huge impact in Arsenal’s 3-0 win against Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night. He scored two free-kicks to put the Gunners 2-0 up in what was historic night for the England international.

However, in the second half, he had to be taken off the pitch due to picking up a knock during the game due to an issue with his foot. It means he is being assessed ahead of Arsenal’s next game against Brentford on Saturday.

Manager Mikel Arteta said after the game: “I think Dec had an issue with his foot. I don’t know if it was a tackle or what it was…” – He is expected to play against the Bees, but could be limited by Arteta with caution.

Expected return date – Saturday 12 April vs Brentford (H)

Bukayo Saka

Saka also was seen to have picked up a knock against Real Madrid, and he had to be taken off, limping later in the second half.

The winger recently returned from a hamstring injury and so his match fitness likely isn’t at 100% yet, however, he looked lively against Madrid.

Arteta said after the game: “Bukayo was after he got tackled on the foul. I think he had a knock, and he had to go [off].” He is currently being assessed ahead of the Brentford game on Saturday.

Expected return date – Saturday 12 April vs Brentford (H)

Riccardo Calafiori

Italian international Calafiori is dealing with a knee injury that he suffered whilst on international duty, and he has since missed Arsenal’s games against Everton, Fulham and Madrid.

He has also been ruled out of the Brentford game this weekend, and is likely over a week away from making a return, meaning that he could also miss the second-leg against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Expected return date – Sunday 20 April vs Ipswich Town (A)
