Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has withdrawn from England duty as he continues his recovery from a muscular injury.
The winger had to be substituted in the first half of the defeat to Lens in the Champions League last week and he wasn’t in the matchday squad for the 1-0 victory against Manchester City at the weekend.
It is hoped that Saka will be available when the Gunners face Chelsea after the international break. The game will take place at Stamford Bridge a week on Saturday so the 22-year-old is in a race against time to be fit.
Despite playing the full 90 minutes against City on Sunday, William Saliba has withdrawn from the France squad. The centre-back has a toe injury which he has been managing in recent weeks.
With the Arsenal star now having a two-week break, it is hoped that the problem will clear up in time for him to be in contention for the Chelsea fixture.
Gabriel Martinelli will not join up with Brazil despite coming on for the second half versus City. It is believed that the winger is still not 100% fit and he will remain at London Colney to ensure his recovery is properly managed.
Updates on 2 other Arsenal players
Leandro Trossard has suffered a recurrence of the hamstring injury that kept him out of the North London derby and Carabao Cup tie against Brentford last month.
The Belgian was withdrawn at half-time at the weekend, and it is now been revealed that he was taken off as a precaution after feeling tightness in the muscle. He won’t join up with Belgium and his issue will be managed in the hope that he can return shortly after the international break.
Jurrien Timber is expected to be sidelined for most of the season with an ACL injury he picked up versus Nottingham Forest in August.
