Arsenal in talks with defender after loaning out Chambers

Arsenal have officially loaned out defender Calum Chambers to fellow Premier League side Fulham.

Fulham are newly promoted to the top tier of English football after securing promotion last season via the Championship play-offs.

They have made a number of top signings this summer, and Chambers will provide them with extra cover in the defensive areas.

The England centre-back announced his move via Twitter, saying that he was delighted to have signed on loan.

New Gunners boss Unai Emery has very limited central defensive options going into the new season, so the loan move is a little strange to say the least. But the boss insisted that Chambers is in need of regular first team football, something that he perhaps wouldn’t have got at the Emirates this season.

Speaking on the decision to loan out Chambers, Emery said: “Calum is a talented defender who has a bright future.

“We all believe this loan at Fulham will be an important part of his development and wish him a successful season.”

Arsenal now have a slight defensive dilemma on their hands, and it has been widely reported that they are in talks with Beskitas over the signing of Croatian defender Domagoj Vida.
