Arsenal In Eight Team Battle For Brazilian Wonderkid With £43m Release Clause

Arsenal are one of eight clubs pursuing Sao Paulo winger Antony, according to reports in the Brazilian media.

Champions League semi-finalists Ajax are also in the mix for the 19-year-old with the player having impressed scouts during the Paulista State Championships.

Antony reportedly has a release clause of €50m (£43m) and Sao Paulo are said to be weighing up a sale despite the teenager being one of their most talented young players.

The Brazilian club are struggling financially and will need to sell at least one player to balance the books. With Antony being one of their most saleable assets, it looks likely that they’ll cash in.

In terms of senior appearances, the winger has played just nine games, having played in Sao Paulo’s first three league games this campaign.

Antony managed two assists in the matches against Botafogo and Gaias, and also started the 1-1 draw against Flamengo last Sunday.
