Arsenal Hot On Martinez’s Trail

Arsenal Hot On Martinez’s Trail

This is the second year in a row for Arsenal to move Jackson Martinez onto their ‘most-wanted’ transfer list. The €40million striker who has managed an impressive scoring rate in his last two years spent with Porto, might be looking for a change of scenery. Wenger is once again feeling the pressure of the fans who eagerly await their team’s first transfer. Rivals Chelsea and Liverpool have already made some moves which strengthen their already strong squads. According to talkSPORT, Martinez would be the perfect target for the French manager who has yet to confirm any new arrivals or even any bids placed for important players.

Martinez is one of Europe’s most efficient strikers. The Colombian international who is going to be 28 at the end of the year, would finally provide the right competition for Giroud who is Arsenal’s only current viable option in front of goal. Porto’s striker seems well-built and has had no complicated injuries in the past. He would definitely be able to perform in the Premier League.

With Martinez publicly expressing his desire to leave Porto, it is all up to Wenger to convince the no.9 North London is the best destination for him. Currently the only competition Arsenal seem to be facing is coming from Spain. Valencia seem keen on offering Martinez a deal as well.

The Colombian seems the best and most viable option for Arsenal at this time so hopefully Wenger will make a move before it is too late. There are no obvious reasons why the Frenchman should not sign Martinez during this summer transfer period.
