Arsenal Hopes Of Landing Reus Dented

The German international Marco Reus, who was cruelly forced to withdraw from the World Cup finals due to injury, is the most sought-after attacker in European football. Dortmund are bracing themselves for receiving multiple offers for the 25-year-old but they do not want to sell their prized asset.

Reus has a contract till 2017 but Dortmund want to extend it since a buy-out clause of just £20 million will be activated next summer. They are reportedly set to offer him fresh terms and, if Reus rejects those talks, he could be on his way out of Westfalenstadion next summer.

Reigning Premier League champions Man City have jumped ahead of the queue by submitting an official enquiry to the German club over the availability of Reus, according to the Express. They have asked for updates over his contract situation which means they are ahead of Arsenal in the race for his signature.

Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the German and would not hesitate to swoop for his services if he became available. However, the report states that the Citizens look favourites to sign Reus, if he decides to leave Germany.
