Arsenal Hold Informal Talks To Sign Senegalese Speedster After Impressive Europa League Displays

Arsenal have enquired about signing Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, according to reports in France.

The Senegalese international scored in the first leg of the Europa League tie against the Gunners last week, and it is believed that directly after the match, officials from the two clubs held informal talks about a potential transfer.

Sarr was a target for previous head of recruitment Sven Mislintat with reports of Arsenal’s interest originally surfacing back in September.

However, it appears the Gunners are still keen on the 21-year-old despite the German’s departure from the club last month.

Sarr has been in excellent form for Rennes, with his goal last week taking his total to ten for the season. He has also been creating goals for his teammates with 11 assists in all competitions.

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal will step up their attempts to sign the winger. Rennes paid Metz €17m for the player two years ago, and the Ligue One side likely value him at a much higher amount now.
