So the rankings for FIFA 17 were released yesterday by EA Sports and it made good reading for Arsenal. The Gunners placed five players in the top 20 from the Premier League. The five from the Gunners was joint top along with Chelsea who also had five players. Manchester City came in 3rd place with four players in the top 20 followed by Manchester United in 4th place with three players in the top 20 (they did have the top two players with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on 90 and David De Gea on 89) and Liverpool, Tottenham and West Ham all came in joint 5th place with one player each in the top 20.

The assist master Mesut Ozil with a ranking of 89 was Arsenal’s top ranked player coming in at an impressive joint 3rd place (just behind the two Man United players) and the ever-green shot-stopper Petr Cech with a ranking of 88 was the next highest ranked Gunner as he came in joint 6th in the top 20.

The other Arsenal players to make the top 20 were the relentless dynamo Alexis Sanchez with a ranking of 87 coming in at joint 11th place, the little magician and Arsenal’s most under-rated player Santi Cazorla with a ranking of 86 coming in at joint 13th and the equally under-rated defensive stalwart Laurent Koscielny with a ranking of 85 coming in at joint 17th. Koscielny was one of only two defenders to make it into the top 20 along with Vincent Kompany of Manchester City.

So hopefully the rankings are an indication that Arsenal are truly ready to compete with their rivals for the title this season especially after their £100+ million purchases in the transfer market to bolster their squad.
