Arsenal Have Spoken To Two Candidates As They Step Up Hunt For Director Of Football

Arsenal have already spoken to two potential candidates in their hunt to appoint a Director of Football, according to reports in the UK.

Former Gunners star, and current Ajax technical director, Marc Overmars is believed to have been approached, as well as Roma sporting director Monchi.

Overmars has spent six years in his role at Ajax and has helped the Dutch club re-establish itself on the European stage.

Monchi, meanwhile, has been at Roma since leaving his post at Sevilla in April 2017. The Spaniard has gained a reputation for discovering young talent and securing bargain transfers for players he has had scouted via a vast network of contacts.

Arsenal are believed to be very keen to make an appointment as soon as possible after having seen head of recruitment Sven Mislintat leave the club earlier this month.

The Gunners are said to want a man in place before the end of the season in order to oversee the club’s summer transfer business.
